Pleiades Star Cluster / Seven Sisters

The Pleiades Star Cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters, is a young, luminous gathering of B-type stars, one of the closest star clusters to Earth at just 444 light-years away in the constellation Taurus. Once thought to be enshrouded in stardust left over from its formation, scientists now believe this beautiful celestial asterism is merely passing through a field of interstellar dust. Presented here in true color with a total exposure time of 4 hours and 36 minutes, the Pleiades captures a brilliant blend of blue stars and wispy cosmic dust.
